Dr. Iyer is Clinical Biomarker Lead and Senior Manager, Infectious Diseases at Moderna. Prior to Moderna she was working as a Clinical Biomarker Scientist in Takeda Pharmaceuticals. As the Biomarker lead on 2 programs, she contributed to the design and implementation of biomarker strategies on several global, phase 1-3 clinical trials, post-marketing commitments advancing Takeda’s Rare Genetics and Hematology (RGH) portfolio.
Prior to her time at Takeda, Dr. Iyer worked as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) for 4 years. At MGH/HMS, Dr. Iyer worked on studying the magnitude, dynamics of antibody responses in patients suffering from SARS-COV-2 and Vibrio cholerae infections, causative agents of the recent (COVID-19) and longest running (cholera) pandemics.
Dr. Iyer obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (Major: Medical Microbiology and Immunology) from the University of Toledo, Ohio in 2015 and her Masters (MSc.) and Bachelors (BSc) degree in Microbiology from the University of Mumbai, India. She is passionate about contributing to clinical trials and interested in efforts that makes therapies accessible to patients.
