Raj Manchanda, PhD
Portfolio Leader
Bill and Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute

Dr. Raj Manchanda is currently Innovation Portfolio Leader at Bill and Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute (Gates MRI) in Cambridge.  Raj holds a PhD in Chemistry from Yale University, a M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, and a BSc. in Chemistry from Delhi University, and was Anna Fuller postdoctoral fellow at MIT.

Previously, he was at Frequency Therapeutics, where he was Chief Development Officer.  His responsibilities at Frequency included oversight of drug development and manufacturing, portfolio and project management, infrastructure-building, and execution of global clinical development and regulatory strategy.  Prior to Frequency, Raj was Vice President, Neurodegeneration and Early-Stage Therapeutics at Biogen, where he was responsible for portfolio strategy, planning and execution.  Prior to this, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Biogen across areas such as manufacturing, drug supply, strategic operations and alliance management, and portfolio management.   Prior to Biogen, Raj held leadership positions in Project management, preclinical/clinical R&D and portfolio management at Diatide, Avid Radiopharmaceuticals, Perkin Elmer Life and Analytical Sciences and URL Pharmaceuticals.
