Dr. R.K. Vats is the Additional Secretary to the Government of India and currently handling the works related to food and drugs administration in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, along with administration of Central Government Health Scheme as Director General and e-health programmes. He has handled the works related to Health & Family Welfare Department in the State Government also. Dr. Vats has experience of working as Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Urban Development, in addition to the field experience of Revenue Administration in the Districts and Secretariat of the State Government.

Dr. Vats is a Medical Professional by education and has experience of working in Radiotherapy Department for 3 years before joining the administration. Recently, initiatives of the Ministry of Health in policy related to use of drugs, medical devices and food standards are his priority concerns. Very recently, benchmarking exercise of national regulator was carried out by World Health Organization (WHO) in India in which the national regulator achieved the desired grades. Guidelines concerning clinical trials have also been streamlined for ease of doing business in India. Dr. Vats is looking forward for valuable interaction with participants of this Summit in these areas.
